Juried Regional Art Exhibit. Download the form here: 2017 Regional Art Exhibit Application
June 2-25, 2017
First Friday Opening on Friday, June 2, 5-8 PM
The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center welcomes original art work of all kinds, colors, and subject matter. The goal of this exhibit is to showcase the diverse talents of artists who live and work in our region. Artists who live within 150 miles of Wellsboro can enter their work into this juried art exhibit. Any artist over the age of 17 living within this region is invited to enter.
Over the last 48 years, the Gmeiner Regional Art Exhibit has primarily benefited the fine art painters of the region. This year, we are opening everything wide open. We have left the theme open to allow all artists the opportunity to put their absolute best work forward. We are looking for work that is informed by the fine arts or folk arts, but departs in creative ways from the rigidity of the traditional path.
About our Juror: Penny Griffin Lutz is the Director of The Gallery at Penn College, located on the campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology, in Williamsport, PA. Lutz earned a Master of Arts degree in art history from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and has been involved in the arts sector as a creator, advocate, manager or director for over 20 years.
In my experience of reviewing hundreds of entries for solo exhibitions, I equally weigh the technical proficiency, composition, presentation, and communication of a message; and creativity: is this work different from anything I have viewed in the past? Does it speak to me and invite me to look closer?
